In our company, cable manufacturing begun in 1973, when the first cable manufacturing machinery was taken into operation. At this time, our company was a part of Aluminum Processing Factory ( IPA – ALPROM ).
ELCARO S.A. was established in 1991, as a separated company, bearing the above-mentioned name.
Because of a good experience concerning cable manufacturing, ELCARO S.A. is an important competitor on the internal and external cable market.
Regarding internal market, ELCARO outruns its competitors because of the constant quality of the products and price policy. Regarding external market, S.C. ELCARO S.A. is present in all over the world countries: Spain, Germany, Israel, Hungary, Egypt, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Slovakia, Austria, etc.
As a result of the above mentioned reasons, SIEMENS AG Germany was interested to invest in S.C. ELCARO S.A. so beginning with July 1996, it became the principal shareholder of ELCARO.
In September 1997, ELCARO obtained the certification from DQS (Germany), in regard of ISO 9001 implementation.
In October 1998 the shares held by SIEMENS in all the energy factories world wide was bought by PIRELLI, that mean 1999 for ELCARO was change the main shareholder.
In August 1999, PIRELLI, bought all the shares and became 100 % owner of our company, which has change its name in PIRELLI Romania Cables and Systems SA.
In 2005 PIRELLI sold its cable division to Goldman Sachs, which changed the new group's name to Prysmian.
